Japan 7-41 South Africa: Springboks too strong for World Cup hosts

South Africa was headed by A hat-trick of tries from Makazole Mapimpi on Friday in their final World Cup warm-up match to a victory over Japan, putting a championship marker down and obtaining revenge for defeat.
The scoring started about seven minutes with a fantastic finish, as the Springboks constructed a 22-0 lead in Kumagaya at half-time, before Mapimpi conducted in two simple tries from the other flank.
Further attempts from Kolbe along with Mapimpi a closing flourish in Herschel Jantjies secured success along with both sides of Kotaro Matsushima’s consolation for South Africa and helped soothe Japans’ memory renowned win in the 2015 World Cup.
Japan must search for improvement in their World Cup opener against Russia on September 20 before South Africa start their effort against reigning champions New Zealand per day later.
