The Castleknock club man saved his very best screen of 2019 and then he can barely contain himself full-time.
“This means absolutely all,” he beamed, talking to Sky Sports. “That which we put in the previous few weeks, concerning preparation, retrieval, becoming around every other. Our families needing to put up with us. It means a lot to people. Everybody is so emotional out there.
“Fair play to Kerry, they’re such a wonderful team. Getting over the line means so much to people. I have never felt anything. Everyone running following the match, it’s an incredible feeling.
“That is what football is for, that’s exactly what the GAA is about, and we’re absolutely thrilled.”
And as the looks back to the year that has been, he understands others made sacrifices.
“I’m so fortunate – my Dad packs my purse prior to the matches and polishes my boots,” he continued. “They do every thing for me. My Mam just has to put up with me cranky across the house.
“My family, my intimate community of friends, they’ve been supportive throughout the entire year and we are just delighted we have done it.”
The elation was clear round the Dublin team, and it was a feeling of relief as far as anything else after stress was piled on them.
“The elephant in the room was that the five in a row,” noted Brian Howard. “But we did not pay much attention into it. There’s a lot of youthful hungry lads on that team.
“This is my next – I don’t want to stop here”
The Sky Blues have won an unprecedented fifth All-Ireland name in series, and it’s going to have a group that was severe to stop them in the next several years.
Howard added:”We’re still as hungry as ever, even though it’s close following the final whistlewe don’t need to quit here, despite the fact that it’s really close after the final whistle since it’s a gigantic achievement.”
